Det lutar mot politiskt kaos nu de brittiska valrösterna sammanställts. Tur att ett världsmästerskap i fotboll väntar runt hörnet. Esquire gör, inte helt oväntat, en stor grej på Wayne Rooney i deras juninummer, “The Sport Issue”. Ett nummer fullproppat med brittisk lad-läsning. Till exempel berättar New Orders Bernard Sumner om inspelningen av videon till världens bästa fotbollslåt World In Motion:

“I’d just returned from holiday and had got this drunken thought on the plane that I wanted to dress as Elvis in it. I was round Johnny Marr’s house when the outfit and wig arrived. I put it on and his two Alsatians – who were scary at the best of times – started going for me. I legged it out into my open top car and just drove off towards Anfield where we were shooting the video. As I got closer I got stuck in traffic and all the schools were turning out. I was getting so much abuse and stuff thrown at me that by the time I arrived it came straight off and I didn’t wear it in the video. It was a stupid idea anyway, what the fuck has Elvis got to do with football?”
